As the two largest economies in the world, each with a resilient agricultural sector, the European Union and the United States form a strong agricultural partnership that benefits producers and consumers on both sides of the Atlantic.

From January 10-13, the European Union took part in the American Farm Bureau Federation virtual convention, where EU agricultural officials engaged directly with American farmers and ranchers. From a robust transatlantic agricultural trade ties totaling $34 billion in 2019, to a commitment to environmental stewardship, there was no shortage of topics to discuss. …

Thinking of early 20th century Polonia in America conjures images of bustling neighborhoods teeming with new immigrants, crowded tenement houses, church steeples and factory smokestacks. Such Polish enclaves could be found in numerous U.S. cities at the turn of the century, usually clustered around booming industrial plants which they powered with their labor. Although places like Chicago and New York became epicenters of Polish immigration, large cities were by no means representative of the entire Polonia experience at that time.

More dialogue, less tariffs, and increased exports to the EU can help strengthen regional economies in the U.S. Mountain West, trade officials from Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico said during an online trade roundtable hosted by the European Union.

“The European Union and the United States are the two biggest, most open economies in the world,” said Stavros Lambrinidis, Ambassador of the European Union to the United States, adding that our trade ties are centered on important shared values, including a commitment to “fair competition, a respect for labor standards, and respect for the environment.”

Although the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted supply chains and severely impacted the global economy, it has not weakened the resolve to maintain the decades-long balanced transatlantic economic ties between the EU and the United States. …

“I am fighting for the abolition of the death penalty, because if others did not fight for me, I would not be here today” declared Shareef Cousin, a death row exoneree and special guest at the European Union’s virtual commemoration of the 2020 World and European Day Against the Death Penalty. At the age of 17, Shareef was sentenced to death in Louisiana for a crime he did not commit. Today he is number 77 — the 77th of nearly 200 individuals who have been exonerated from death row in the United States.

“Death row made me angry,” said Mr…

In the United States and Europe, there is a growing consensus that farmers play an integral role in climate change solutions. With one-third of global greenhouse gas emissions coming from agriculture, climate goals cannot be achieved without shifting food systems to a sustainable path. That is why the EU’s landmark Green Deal includes the Farm to Fork Strategy, a comprehensive approach to achieving sustainable food systems that will reduce the environmental and climate footprint of the EU food system.

Ahead of Climate Week NYC, the European Union, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy, convened a panel of experts and policy…

Col. Romuald Lipinski saluted each of the over fifty cars which drove by his house.

On a warm, sunny Saturday in mid-May, all seemed calm in the Washington, D.C., suburb of Annandale, Va., where Col. Romuald Lipinski has lived for half a century. There was no warning that a special convoy would soon arrive to show appreciation to the 94-year-old Polish World War II veteran on the eve of the anniversary of a battle that influenced his life forever.

Col. Lipinski is short in stature, but he carries himself confidently. Long white hair — longer than usual given the COVID-19 shutdown — jutted out from beneath his black military beret adorned with the Polish eagle…

Streaming. On-Demand. Cable. Dish. Network TV.

The options consumers have today when it comes to accessing entertainment such as TV shows and movies seems to be growing longer each month. With new subscription services being announced almost every other week, it’s easy to feel skeptical as to whether each additional platform is worth the time, and more importantly, the subscription fee.

Well, while I do not have a clear-cut answer as to which service is best for each individual’s viewing habits and tastes, what I can offer is my recommendation for a different — and totally free — option.

Who has not felt stuck at one point or another in their life — trapped by indecision, immobilized by uncertainty, or simply burdened with something that landed in their lap. Those sentiments are no foreign concept to Maciej “Matthew” Kawalski, the budding Polish director who was inspired by his own lived experiences to write and direct Atlas, a short film about getting unstuck. The serial comedy focuses on a catatonic patient in a psychiatric institution who is a riddle to all around him. He serves as a blank slate for successive interpretations as to the true nature of his condition…
